Our Geomatics department is driven by the belief that high quality data has the power to transform our understanding of the world, get people excited about heritage and enable people to do their jobs better. We offer a wide range of GIS, photographic and survey services, including metric survey, 3D modelling, recording and analysis, of buildings, landscapes, monuments and artefacts. We utilise combinations of GNSS, TST, UAVs, rectified photography, photogrammetry and laser scanning to achieve a high quality product that meets the customer’s needs. Wessex Archaeology is also one of the leading contractors in the development of BIM for heritage, with a dedicated BIM team whose aim is to drive forward the proper utilisation of BIM in the heritage sector in order to derive the client benefits seen in other parts of the construction industry.
